Cubana is not a Cuban restaurant, it is a semi-sheeshy bar trying to fake that Latino vibe. The menu didn't have anything authentically latin on it and there were literally NO Latinos working there. I looked for some Cuban fare and finally grumbled and settled on the chicken basket ( HOW AUTHENTIC!) with Mojo sauce. It was more then edible, but overall not very exciting. My margarita was good but honestly, I wanted a MEAL.
This is first and foremost a BAR, and cocktails are what they do best. If you dress up a bit, you can get into their Havana lounge and smoke a cuban with other insanely overdressed people. It's all a show of who can look hotter in D&G and a pumps.. whoop de doo.
Unique Suggestions: Go there for drinks and maybe Hookah, avoid the food if you want your wallet intact.
Fun Alternatives: Go to Havana restaurant in Suncoast Casino.. you'll pay more, but at least it will be Authentic and you can still get a Cuban cigar!

The ussal. Any place that looks touristy. African curio stands (The shops in the malls have Over inflated prices ) Some places you can find them selling curios on the streets . Haggle african style , get a local to help you (Ie. Pay local )Just remember HOW are you going to take back the curio with you.
Like every city Durban has more than its fair share of crooks. Be careful with your money , Don't flash it. Shop around for prices.
Keep away from Squatter camps and non tourist areas . Don't think you are safe anywere . Try not to wear jewlrey openly . Just think like you would in any major city in the world. Pay attention to your suroundings. if you don't like it , move on.
Photo Taken at ST Lucia - Friend just had to strike a pose near the Danger sign- UMM THere were Crocs in the Area .

Well, sadly crime is on the increase in South Africa. Don't be careless about your posessions if you are out and about! I was told by a lady in Musgrave, the area where I was staying that someone is just as likely to stab you to get your camera etc! Yipes!
