I am told there are several 'World's View' locations scattered about. I can only hope that the views from those other points add up to what you get here. The trail takes off from the Day Visitor's parking area and the round trip covers about 14 kilometers and takes about four hours. Promptly, the trail drops steeply down to cross over the Bushmens River - passing a small emergency helipad on the way - and soon you are slowly ascending through grassland slopes on the other side of the valley. Most of the way is an easy traverse after the initial gain following the river crossing. Three quarters of the way you circle around the slopes of Sugarloaf Kop from where a small band of baboons barked at us from the slopes. Past the Kop you come across the flat Wildebeest Plateau with a short climb that puts you atop World's View. From here, the views of the Drakensberg Escarpment are amazing - Giant's Castle in the south, to Cathkin Peak in the north. The Mteshezana River is below you on the north side and the Bushmens is on your east side. Take water and sun protection as there is no shade on this route. Walking back the same way, the Giant's Castle serves as a dramatic backdrop for your path.
