Inyathi Game Farm is about 20 minutes from Ladysmith, is not too big, but has a variety of wildlife. It's also right next door to Weenen Nature reserve (which has most of the Big 5). Go on one of the horse rides (Dont take Casper, hes a bugger), and get really close to the animals.

On Murchison street, this museum covers the history of Ladysmith from it's inception, & through the Boer War, in great detail. It is also the site of the local Information office. The entrance fee is a measly R2 (about 20 pence), and you definitely get more than your moneys worth!
They also have a guest book to fill in after your self guided tour.

This reserve is based at the spioenkop dam. A great place for watersport. You can camp in the reserve. Don't worry, there are no lions. Only different kind of bok's,zebra's, giraffe's and ... oh yeah... Rhino's. Should not be a problem though ?
