Hippos at St. Lucia's Mouth

At the end of McKenzie street heading west is Swala Swala Park. It's a nice park with clear trails. Follow it and the trail leads to the lake where you may find hippo and crocs and plenty of birds including goliath heron and african fish eagle. You can follow the lake all the way to the mouth of the river to the Indian Ocean.

This is a nice days walk that costs you nothing and gives you another excellent opportunity to see wildlife. The beach is also very beautiful.

On our walk we saw:
hippo
croc
african fish eagle
goliath heron
black faced duck
darter
grey heron
purple crested lourie
vervet monkey

Don't walk around here at night. Hippos may be walking the trails.

Here is one nice Vervet Monkey I spotted while driving in the park, they are easy to recognise by their blue balls, LOL

While walking on one of the trails I saw this big hippopotamus, I wasn’t sure if he was just bored and yawn or wanted to show me his great teeth :)
