The waterfront at the Tuzi Gazi marina has several great restaurants offering al fresco dining in good weather and excellent food regardless of the weather!
Predictably there is an emphasis on seafood, and I can highly recommend Maritano's Portuguese restaurant, which would make you feel as though you had been transported back to colonial Mozambique! The seafood platters are amazingly delicious, generous and excellent value: my German clients nearly fell of their chairs when they realised that the platter they thought was intended for the table to share was in fact a single portion!
There is also an Italian restaurant and a Swiss restaurant which I also understand are good, although I've never managed to tear myself away from Maritano's to sample the competition!

One of the most popular places in Richardsbay, is the Elepant and I coffee shop. I never miss going there whenever I am in Richardsbay.
They have a great selection of foods, and specialise in breakfasts and lunches.
They have great cakes and make very tasty milkshakes, all of this in a very stylish surrounding.
Favorite Dish: My absolute favourite is the Ham (or bacon) and Cheese croissant. Its very very large and laden with cheese, its just so tasty.

Being quite a small town, the vatiety of restaurants are quite limited, but Panarottis, is a very nice place that offers a range of Italian dishes.
Their prices are very reasonable, and the food is very tasty.
What is nice about this restaurant is that its part of the restaurant next door, so if you are not in the mood for Italian and the rest of your party is, you can order from their menu, which has steaks, salads, burgers etc.
Favorite Dish: Their garlic bread is very good, and they also bring you extra garlic, so I just laden my food with garlic, and then for the rest of the day I have to avoid speaking to people for fear of them fainting from my garlic breath... hehehe charming huh... lol
