    The roads are not good in winter around here because water fills inside the potholes. We drove a little rented Toyota Tazz out there and it almost got eaten by the road. Rent a 4x4 for no problems.

    Hillmond Weavers in Polley's arcade in Pretoria used to stock handwoven mohair curtaining from Tanskei ) E Cape), but they also received regularly tapestries and prints from the Rorke's Drift Missionary, which was were started in 1962 by Peder (art teacher) and Ulla (artist and weaver) Gowenius from Sweden, here i learnt to appreciate the products untili personally managed to visit the art centre in the mid 60s, ven paintings and woodblock prints, the latter were inspired by the Bible stories, understandable and the Centre was initiated by th Church of Sweden Missionaries.

    What to buy: hand crafted rugs, tapestries, printed cloths, ceramics and neadwork

    What to pay: too long ago to remember
