If only the restaurant put half as much effort into the food as its decor, we would have been much happier customers. Since we had heard that the Durban area had such a large Indian community, we had assumed that pretty much any Indian restaurant would be good. We were wrong. Gateway to India, in the Gateway Shopping Mall, says that it specialises in North Indian cuisine. This cuisine is famous for its aromatic cooking, yet only one dish on the menu included the cardamom and cinnamon this cuisine is famous for. The portions were small and expensive and other than heat, there was almost no flavour at all. Disappointing in the extreme - to be avoided.
Favorite Dish: None. Avoid.

This French restaurant by owner Robert Mauvis with a Creole underlining is strong competition to be one of the best restaurants in Durban.
The food and service in the exclusive venue is simply marvelous in particular if you like the combination of French dishes from the Island of Mauritius.
