In 1910, the population was 4000 and a larger church and school were needed. Both buildings were completed in 1912 The church has a neo-Byzantine style with a Marseilles roof. It is a good example of the sandstone architecture of the ostrich-era In the little Karoo. It was declared a national monument in 1991
Die Dorpshuis was originally built in the late 19th century as a prestige residence. Since then it was extended and became the residence and surgery of the town's doctors and eventually it became home to a local schoolmaster.
The restaurant is open from 07h00 till 21h00 from Monday to Sunday. They prepare traditionally South African meals and have excellent ostrich dishes on our menu.

A very hopitable place, in an ancient house. Be sure to be seated at one of the few tables on their verandah in the cosy atmosphere of their garden. I could sit here all day, sipping some wine and sampling the delicious cuisine.
