    Air Travel: Back to Vietnam
  • Tip Rating:
  • While in Cape Town why not take a sightseeing flip in a Vietnam War vintage Bell Huey helicopter?Potential passengers have to join the Huey Club at a cost of R750. They may then at any stage during the year ahead, fly in the Huey on a simulated combat mission.

The first Huey Club flight took place on December 22, 2002 .
Flying takes place from the Waterfront Heliport. Initially, flights took place at low level up the coast but due to the noise factor, the built-up areas are transited at 1000 feet to the GF area then the sortie is flown at low level. Most flights are undertaken with 14 passengers and two crew and to feel the part, passengers can wear replica flak jackets and goggles

Cape Town International Airport won the 2005 Skytrax Award for being the Best Airport in Africa.
It was also named the leading Airport in Africa from 2001-2004.
In 2005, it came second to Johannesburg. This year, there are renovations done to upgrade Cape Town's International Airport. Who knows, perhaps it will regain the title of Leading International Airport in Africa again.
As for now, it is a real pleasure to travel from here.

    Air Travel: South African Airways
  • Tip Rating:
  • We flew from Zurich via Jo'burg to Cape Town by South African Airways which is in my opinion one of the best airlines.

It was a pretty long flight, but the crew did their best to make it as comfortable as possible.

Get on one of the many minibuses which stop wherever passangers want to get off. It's a pretty cheap way to get from one place to another.

Air Travel: Cape Town International airport
  • Tip Rating:
  • Cape Town International Airport is South Africa's second largest airport after Johannesburg International Airport, and a prime tourism gateway!

The Cape is one of the country's major tourist destinations. The airport is often the visitor's first encounter with South Africa, and a good example she is too! :)

Air Travel: Can go direct to Cape Town
  • Tip Rating:
  • Years ago, Cape Town's airport had a tiny itnernational section. Tiny means about 2 international flights per day. Most of the external flights were via Johannesburg. Since then, the city's itnernational terminal has expanded and there are more flights. If you are going to visit Cape Town only, it might pay you to come directly to the city. Only use Johannesburg if it is necessary.

    Air Travel: NATIONWIDE AIRLINES
  • Tip Rating:
  • I had never heard of Nationwide before researching our trip, but I read good reviews about it and was amazed by the great prices to travel business class from Gatwick
the plane was rather dated, but was very comfortable, the food was the best I have ever eaten on a plane, the service excellent and the timing of our 10 1/2 hour flight meant that we could sleep all night and arrive at Johannasberg Airport refreshed where we transferred to a local flight to Cape Town
our return journey was just as good, this was the best flight we have ever had
Nationwide flies from Gatwick North Terminal in the UK, and operates domestic and international flights in Africa, I can definately recommend Nationwide if flying to South Africa

    Air Travel: KULULA
  • Tip Rating:
  • Kulula must be the worlds funniest airline, what other airline tells you durung the safety briefing that if you are caught smoking in the toilet during the flight you will be made to sit on the naughty seat on the wing ? announcements were fun not boring and made us laugh
I suppose if you fly regularly with Kulula the jokes become a tad stale, but we just flew with then twice, to Port Elizabeth and back to Cape Town, Kulula is a no-frills budget airline but the seats are comfortable and we had enough legroom

Check out www.kulula.com a no-frills airlines to Jo'burg from Cape Town.

Also watch SAA's website for two ranges of bargain
fares introduced to compete with no-frills airline kulula.com. One is the "nite club" available on its late night flights on Tuesdays and Saturdays for R695 + taxes. It flyes from Cape Town to Jo'burg.

The second range is "dazzling" and the routes will be the same as kulula and will fly between Cape Town and Jo'burg and Durban.

These two ranges wil be permanently available, but will be subject to conditions.

Air Travel: Cape Town has now a completely...
  • Tip Rating:
  • Cape Town has now a completely rebuilt airport and is served by all major carriers. From London it takes about 11hrs non stop. On this journey it makes sense to upgrade to business (BA has full lenght beds)as there's no timedifference with continental Europe e.g. wake up to a full day upon arrival!
Maximum freedom by renting a car there's also organized tours to be had aplenty at good value for money. Shop around at the tourist office near main station.
