Movement in Cape Town.
  • Tip Rating:
  • There is is a huge migration of people in Cape Town. Gathered from the amount of property free mail one receives, either in one's mailbox, or at stores, there seem to be a definate movement of some kind. Property news are hot on the lips of nearly everyone in Cape Town. In the Saturday Weekend Argus, 32-34 pages of property news is available for all to view.
Whether people are just moving from city to city, province to province, or out of South Africa is a question still to be answered. There are many buyers and sellers who are engaged to make a profit.
I have read about the amount of foreigners who buy in Cape Town. Not only because of the favourable currency, but because Cape Town is just so beautiful!

I still live here. Cape town is divine!

The reconstruction of Chapmans Peak Drive.
  • Tip Rating:
  • The reconstruction of Chapmans Peak took place in 2003. During previous years more than one accident occured on Chapmans Peak due to falling rocks.
Please open the link of the website to see how the tunnel was built and other reconstuctions. web.uct.ac.za
Also open the link to the pictures to see how amazing this project was. It was well worth it.
The drive along Chapmans peak is absolutely breathtaking. So, be sure not to miss it.
A toll road was constucted in 2003 and a minimal fee charged to drive along the mountain.

    Everything!...... I live here.

It is good to see the many changes in Cape Town. Almost in every suburb of Cape Town, cranes can be seen. New buildings are in the making, whether it may be residential or industrial.
Who knows what Cape Town is going to look like in one or two years time. It is indeed something to look forward to.
It has been a while since I have taken these first shots. Things are certainly moving in Cape Town.

    I live here!

    FUNICULAR ,REACHING NEW HEIGHTS.
  • Tip Rating:
  • Hop aboard the funicular and you’ll be whisked away on a scenic trip to the view site near the old Cape Point lighthouse.

Over time, the means of transport to the view site changed from a diesel bus, named after the “Flying Dutchman” ghost ship, to an environmentally friendly funicular – the only one of its kind in the world.

The funicular has been in use since December 1996. It can transport 600 people per hour at peak periods, with maximum safety and minimum impact on the environment.

The funicular travels the same route that the Flying Dutchman bus did years ago, in order not to disturb the natural slopes. The design for an electrically powered funicular railway was proposed by Concor Holdings. It is unique in design and geometry, and the first commercial funicular railway of its kind in Africa.

The entire funicular has been produced from South African resources. 27 different safety features ensure practical and safe operation 24 hours a day.

There are two funicular cars which travel from the parking lot to the view site, just below the lighthouse. Each can carry 40 passengers, and runs on the 585 m long track, which curves vertically and horizontally.

The construction of the funicular was a huge challenge for the engineers, as the original Flying Dutchman had travelled along a single track

    FOUR SEASONS. ^_^
  • Tip Rating:
  • Whatever season you have chosen to visit Cape Town, be warned of the old joke: Cape Town has four seasons - sometimes all in one day. Keep this in mind, especially if you plan to go hiking or be outdoors for the day.

Cape Town & the Peninsula's summer time (our winter) has a Mediterranean climate with little rain and lots of sunshine. Its winter time (our summer), also called the secret season, can have days of rain and wind, however often you will have perfect temperate days.
