Beaches: False Bay (East)
  • Tip Rating:
  • The coastal road from Gordon's Bay to Kleinmond offers some of the most spectacular coastal scenery in the world. The greatest highlights are the fantastic beach of Kogel Bay and the dunescape near Betty's Bay.
But behind every curve you can expect overwhelming vistas, fortunately there are enough parking spots along the road, otherwise there would be lots of accidents, i guess.

    Gay Capital of South Africa
  • Tip Rating:
  • Well I have`nt seen so many gay people and transvestites in South Africa like I`ve seen in Cape Town.

They have a hugh gay party in Cape Town annually when gay people all over the world fly to Cape Town to join in the festivity.

African Markets: Don't forget the 'Markets' out of the city
  • Tip Rating:

  • As I drove my rented car to the Cape Of Good Hope, I came across a number of markets by the coastal roads. Some of these little markets sold really nice african handicraft. Lots of wood craft too.

In the picture you will see me and a friend at one of the bigger markets. At this market, they specialized in wood and stone craft. I saw wooden girraff's from 6 inch's tall to a whoppin 12 feet tall. And the best part, they were all Cheap! Now if only my dad had owned a cargo company :)

    Beaches: Bloubergstrand
  • Tip Rating:
  • Bloubergstrand is located about 25km North of Cape Town and it's the place to go for great fotos of the town with Table Mountain in the background (see my intro pic). The Beach is fantastic aswell and there were some surfers in the water (way too cold for my liking).
Unfortunately there's been quite a bit of construction going on and highrise apartment blocks dominate the town.

    Hout Bay
  • Tip Rating:
  • Hout Bay is a small town South of Cape Town which is know for it's fishmarket. Mariner's wharf is also a great place to visit, if you're looking for some souvenirs or if you're hungry.
The scenic Chapman's Peak Drive starts at Hout Bay. It's a 5km toll road and the fee is 22 Rand per car. Unfortunately the weather was rainy and foggy when was there, so I just could guess how amazing the views must be.

    Wine Region: Wellington Wine Route
  • Tip Rating:
  • As Stellenbosch wine route can be so incredibly busy in peak tourist season why not visit Wellington wine route, also there is plenty to do in Wellington on a visit here.

We paid a visit to Diemersfontein sampling some excellent Mocha, Chocolate Pinotage amongst other fine reds (ZAR 15) for tasting. On the Diemersfontein Wine Estate they have 20 room guesthouse, garden weddings, a large dam, a top notch restaturant & tastings 7 days a week. When I sampled their award winning 2006 coffee / chocolate ppinotage the aroma when it was being poured was just like cappucino heavenly. The label carries the words "It befriends - It converts - It seduces" visit www.diemersfontein.co.za (The products are available in other countries see website for stockists)

We also went to Ashanti & sampled some excellent wines which were incredibly reasonable. They have opened a small restaurant here as well the food is homemade and satisfying. At Ashanti you can sample all their wines for free and even though in comparison to Diemersfontein the wines are suprisingly reasonable they are good quality. I enjoyed the dry rose a bottle costing only R10 and the cabernet sav was only R25.

Bovlei winery we did not visit this time but the scenery is beautiful.

    Kirstenbosch Gardens: THE PROTEA
  • Tip Rating:
  • The Protea is the national flower of South Africa. You will find different species in the Cape Good Hope nature reserve. These flowers are protected, so do not try to pick them. Seeds of these flowers can be found in local shops and they are not difficult to grow at home ( in a greenhouse).
    Do enjoy the beautiful colors
