Blouberg lies on the west coast of Table Bay and a relaxed 20-minute drive from Cape Town city centre. Bloubergstrand beach gives a wonderful view of the city, and it is from here that the perfect postcard pictures of Cape Town with Table Mountain in the background is often taken.
The coast of Blouberg offers long, sandy beaches frequented by dog walkers and kite flyers. The large crashing waves, supported by the regular strong southeaster winds of the Western Cape, makes Blouberg one of the fastest and hottest places worldwide for windsurfing. Wave jumpers and colourful hobie cats can be seen dotted against the azure of the sea. Fishing, sailing and boating trips are other popular activities. Robben Island, where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned, can be seen quite clearly from the beach at Blouberg.
Within a stone's throw of the beach, a whole host of restaurants offers excellent dining. Blouberg provides a great variety of modern shopping centres with all that your heart could desire, as well as all other amenities, including cinemas, which can be expected from one of the fastest growing areas in Cape Town.

Bloubergstrand is the famous spot to get your panorama shot of Table Mountain. The beach here stretches on for 48 kilometers and we spotted many kite surfers in the area. It is a pretty big town with many restaurants and places to shop. I did not spend much time here other than on the beach.
This is the place to come to see one of the world's most famous and much photographed views of Table Mountain across the bay. Bloubergstrand is a very popular beach with a great view of Table Mountain. This beach is popular for windsurfing and kite surfing.
There are lots of restaurants and cafes lining Marine Drive.
For interest sake bloubergstrand can be directly translated as Blue mountain Beach
Bloubergstrand is a suburb on the Atlantic coast north of Cape Town. The town itself is tacky and not very attractive, but the beach is gorgeous and offers the best view on Cape Town and the table mountain.
This is one of the nicer suburbs of Cape Town.
Located north of the city centre, Bloubergstrand is it's own little town and offers not only cafes and shops, but a fabulous beach with world famous views back across to the city and Table Mountain.
We enjoyed a few hours in Bloubergstrand, we ate lunch out here, strolled along the beach and sat watching the kitesurfers - which seems like a very popular past time here!
I did attempt to dip my feet in the water here too! Bear in mind that the waters here are straight from the Antarctic and are freezing!!!!!!!!!!1

Even if you're not a beach animal, a trip to Bloubergstrand is a must for the classic view of Table Mountain and Cape Town. Located along the coast of Table Bay to the northwest of the bulk of Cape Town, the view north across the bay is stupendous, whatever the time of day, (almost) whatever the weather.
As for the water, you might consider a wet suit if you're used to warm water. This is the Atlantic and it is COLD! There's plenty of wave action, too, so it's really the territory of strong swimmers.
