    Clifton beach

by mallyak Updated Apr 4, 2015

Clifton Beach is made up of 4 coves and the beaches are called 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th. When the summer south-easter blows, the Clifton beaches are usually well sheltered from the wind. All of the beaches are accessible via stairs leading down from the road above. In summer, plan to get to the beach early as parking is very limited. Generally 4th is the busiest in summer with good changing room and bathroom facilities. Kiosks on the beach sell snacks, colddrinks and ice-creams as do the many vendors that wander the beach. Deck chairs and umbrellas are also available for daily rental. If you're on a budget and plan on spending alot of time on the beach - buy your own umbrella as this will save you in the long-run. Clifton 4th is a Blue Flag beach.

    Clifton Beach and Camp's Bay

Great Beach near green point and close to Camp's Bay. A somewhat upscale area, but has great beaches and views. If you want to check out some gorgeous bodies head to clifton 4. Don't plan on going in the water during the summer. Temps usually around 6C...

Clifton is not for those scared of heights and narrow roads. The houses seem glued to the cliffs. They park on top of their roofs or so it seems. Any builder that can build a house here deserves a reward.

Most of the houses are more mansions than houses and are worth a few million. Not in my price range but very nice to look at.

Then Clifton is famous for it's beaches.
The water is too cold for me but the kids disagree. This photo was taken in April and Rian had no problem with the water.

The little rock pools are excellent for them to play in and obviously not that cold.

Unfortunately it is also the ideal spot for beach parties and some of these areas can be very dirty.

    Clifton Beach

Clifton is actually a series of four beaches, each separated by a stretch of granite boulders. The beach is sprawling and clean, reflecting the brilliant African sunshine off white sand and throngs of tanned bodies. A distinct vibe is felt at Clifton, owing in part to the mystique of Table Mountain, which looms gorgeously in the beach's background, and in part to the glamorous pulse of the surrounding neighborhood.

There is tidal pool as well.

Clifton is a trendy and posh suburb on the Atlantic coast with four highly popular and beautiful white sand coves.
