There are open air fish restaurants all over the West Coast and I must say Strandlooper is nice but the one in Yzerfontein...I think its called Srrandkombuis is much more rustic, romatic and clean. Seafood is as diverse as Strandlooper. There is the most gorgeous little cottages right next to it in the dunes on a long white beach that borders West Coast Nature Reserve. So you can eat and fall into Agyptian Cotton after your meal.

A beautiful restaurant doing light lunches to delicious dinners. We only stopped here for a quick bite to eat but reading the menu makes me want to go back soon. They do typical Cape dishes - curries and bobotie.

The restaurant at the hotel is very basic, plastic chairs and table cloths but the food is what brings people back ? myself included. The seafood is excellent and thwe prices even better. Everything is prepared fresh and when it is busy it may take a while to get your food but the whole point is to sit and relax.

Bring Your Own. Wine that is!
It's perfectly normal in South Africa to bring your own wine to a restaurant. You will just have to pay a little fee for "corkage" (opening the bottle), something between 7.50 and 15 ZAR.
So, if you have tasted a great wine during a wine-tasting, buy a (few) bottle(s) and take it to the restaurant!
On the other hand, it's also perfectly normal, in case you didn't finish your bottle, to take the remainder back home. Just like you can get a doggie bag everywhere.

Boschendahl, between Stellenbosch and Franschoek, is perhaps the best known and visited wine estate. There are several restaurants but the most unique is the picnic one. You must have a reservation in advance. The menu is pre-determined and delicious in a gorgeous setting! You pick up your basket (someone carried it to a table somewhere on the lawn) and there's a five course meal (coffee and dessert are picked up later)!
Favorite Dish: Everything was delicious -- pate's, great French bread, cheeses, cold meat and chicken, salad, etc.
