Visiting the Klipdrif distillery was really a highlight for me. When you arrive you are given a glass of brandy mixed with ginger ale on a hot day, and this is one of the most refreshing drinks I have had in a long time. Then you cn do the cellar tour which is extremely interesting and do either a sweet or savoury tasting afterwards. Value for money at R30

You will find Pat Busch Private Nature Reserve, situated fifteen kilometers from the pretty Boland town of Robertson in the Klaasvoogds foothills of the Langeberg Mountains. This great place is only one and a half hours scenic drive from Cape Town.
Nature lovers will have a wonderful opportunity to explore the hidden valleys and admire our 2000Ha of spectacular mountain scenery.
The trails will appeal to those interested in birds, small antelope and indigenous fauna and flora. The Langeberg is home to a large variety of Fynbos such as proteas and ericas and other species including lilies, ferns and trees.
With patience you may see the several types of indigenous animals such as Duiker, Grysbok, Rhebok, Bush Buck, Cape Clawless Otter, Lynx, Baboon and even Leopard. A variety of game is also being re-introduced.

Chosen as one of the four best Botanical Gardens in South Africa (and as the only non-subsidised one) Soekershof is especially known of its huge (and hugely entertaining) hedge-maze with a net-surface of 13,870 square metres. It's not a maze in the traditional perception in which you have to get lost. You will but it differs in many ways from other mazes around the globe. Not only the sheer size of it attracts visitors but especially the local folklore interwoven in it. Stories, visualised with objects -as orientating points towering above the hedges- mark the diverse 'resting points' where visitors can sit and enjoy the surroundings and the enormous variety of bird and other (innocent) wildlife. The maze itself can be done in 45 minutes but if you're not our after one hour owners or their staff will check.
From a botanical/horticultural point of view the gardens are worthwhile visiting with the oldest cactus of South Africa (Soekershof is the breeding place of the South African cactus trade) amongst over 2400 other succulent species from around the globe under the open sky (instead of under a roof or shade-net).
Part of the Soekershof experience is a guided tour in the garden where visitors are invited for 'flower tasting' and hugging cacti. This educational part and the personal touch of owners and real dedicated staff of Soekershof is highly appreciated by its guests.
No place for mass tourism and individual visitors may expect a real great hospitality without all the banter of craftshops (made in China), restaurants, etc. but with a real South African touch.
