Abseiling at Knysna Heads

by windsorgirl

This is a great place to try abseiling (some call it rapelling) for the first time. Our guide was very patient and very competent, I felt very safe and the view down was stunning!Knysna Heads is about 8hrs east of Cape Town along the Garden Route.

Bush Walks

by caslu

We went on several hikes while on safari and were surprised to learn that very few people take the opportunity to do that. I highly recommend it as a good way to learn more about the bush flora, fauna, and smaller inhabitants. Mosquito repellent is recommended although they will provide if you don't have any, and a good hat to keep the sun off your head.

Sports and Outdoor Activities

by Kurtdhis

We are a nation of out door people. Weekends see South Africans of all races indulging in a huge variety of sporting activities, too many to mention here, but a sampling includes:Scuba diving.Parasailing and ParaglidingFishing - fresh and sea.Rugby, cricket, hockey and all ball sports.Hiking, biking and trailing.Surfing, body boarding, kite boarding and wind surfing. There are many special tour operators who offer specialised sporting tours and equipment is available for hire.

Cricket

by ATLC

South Africans are passionate about cricket. In 2003 the World Championships are in South Africa between 9 February and 23 March. Some matches are played in neighbouring Zimbabwe.Because of the instability of Zimbabwe two main participating countries (UK and Australia) call for measures. The UK does not want to play in Zimbabwe and Australia's Foreign Minister calls the Australian team to boycot the game in Zimbabwe.
