This area is, like most of the country, a haven for African crafts and artistry of all types.
From tall skinny giraffes skilfully crafted from jackleberry wood, to intricately woven baskets and hampers, to beautifully beaded jewellery.
I love the things they create, especially the wire work and items like cars made from old tin and recycled metal materials!
They are just so very creative!
Something to bear in mind is that these people are generally supporting MANY people with what they take home. Unemployment is high in this area and I don’t ever want to haggle
Be careful what you buy though, that you will be able to bring it on the plane and into your own country when going home. Generally this is fine.
Try and get a receipt (not that many give these! But worth a try to ask for one).
What to buy: There are all kinds of things for sale... in the photos are a few items we have as examples.
What to pay: It is less expensive buying form the people on the side of the road than in the official park shop.

If you need drugs of any sort, or basic stuff like camera films, magazines, etc, head to the entertainment center. just inside you'll find a CNA and a pharmacy. Other shops in the center include a sweet shop, and one or two overpriced clothes and souvenir shops.
What to buy: Basic stuff - pian tablets, film, magazines... etc... :-p
What to pay: CNA and the Chemist are pretty average (for Sun City), but the other shops are definitely pricey!

There are two options available if you want to do some food shopping. If you have a car then I highly suggest you take a 10 minute drive outside Sun City to the next village (forgotten name) but the concierge will be able to give you proper directions. The small village has a good size supermarket and other food shops, plus a garage is also available for petrol.
The other option is to visit the small supermarket in the Vacation Club, they offer a good selection of essentials.
What to buy: Be careful with any valuables if shopping outside Sun City. I suggest you leave everything in your hotel room at Sun City. An ATM machine is also available at the village.
