Lost City Club House

Golfers are astounded by the breathtaking beauty of the par-72 Lost City Golf course. The rich green fairways give a dramatic contrast to the bushveld backdrop and the barren waste bunkers are a special feature of this intriguing course.

The desert style design of the golf course has an exotic allure all of its own and designer, Gary Player has acknowledged it as one of his favourite courses.

The Lost City Golf Course is flexible: playing off the forward tee a course length of 5 953 metres, extending to 6 983 metres off the back tee. The course provides spectacular views.

Teeing off...

I've been lucky enough to play this course before, and suprisingly i didn't do to badly (for an amateur). Featuring the famous 13th hole, over the crocodile pit, this course is kept in pristine condition (as is to be expected of a world class course). the price is about R500 if i remember correctly, and that includes a buggy.

Equipment: Obviously, dress smart... i think they do have clubs for hire, but it ain't gonna be cheap!

Poetry in Motion? Dieter teeing off.

The Gary Player Golf Course at Sun City is generally rated in the top 5 in the country - When i was lucky enough to have a round on it, it was THE no.1 course in South Africa, and it's obvious why. The course is always in pristine condition, and it is very challenging, but not impossible. I shot 101 over 18 holes, which i think is fantastic (it included a birdie, too!)

The only reason the course didn't get the better of us, to be honest, was the experience of the caddies we hired - at a cost of R120, worth every penny!

Equipment: We had our own clubs, and obviously only proper golf attire is permitted - no jeans! I do believe they have clubs for hire, and hiring a caddie is optional, though highly recommended! No golf carts are allowed ont he course either, ony walking.

Situated in the middle of the Resort is the international standard championship golf course and what is much better it is available for you to have a round of golf. The course was in peak condition when we visited during May, it looked so good that although we do not play golf we walked several holes.

The course is surrounded by lush vegetation with the occassional monkey appearing and much bird life to be seen. There is a cafe in the clubrooms which overlooks the course and on several days we had lunch at an outside table enjoying the view.

Equipment: Clubs and caddies are available for hire.

Swimming in Bagathla camp

At the camp there is a HUUUUUGE adult swimming pool, and a smaller, warm childrens pool.

We played with Cayla in the small pool, and she played with us in the big pool.

We lazed about, did laps, suntanned and basically had a wonderful time at the pool side.

The weather was hot and sunny, which was perfect.

As it was mid-week, there werent many peopel around either, which we preferred... so we had the pool to ourselves a lot of the time :)

It is available at night too, it has spotlights for swimming.

There is no lifeguard here, so parents need to be extra vigilant with your kids!

Equipment: Swimming costume, hat and sunscreen!

Hides are a wonderful way of viewing birds.

They are hardly aware you are there as you are under cover, and it is sheltered, with seating.

The floors do creak alot though, so be careful to walk as quietly as possible, so as not to frighten the birds away!

There are over 300 species in the park, so plenty to view... quite a few at the hides, but mnay as you drive along the tracks too.

We saw a gorgeous hornbill right outside our bungalow too... my husband took some photos of him :)

Equipment: Binoculars and a South African bird book!

Jet skiing!

Here it is R90 for 4 laps round a certain part of the lake.

It's quite long which is nice, but is in a circular route, with no straight runs, so you cannot reach a huge speed.

The guy there gives you a practice round (with him) and then lets you do your thing.

My brother and husband didnt wait that long to jet ski, this was probably because it was during the week, and not the weekend, which is a lot busier!

Well this is nice place to spend your time , there is everything here from Jetski`s to Water skiing and Paragliding. My personal favourite is the ride whereby you get dragged on tubes by a speed boat. Its great fun. The tickets to the rides can be purchased at the shop at the Waterworld next to the Restaurants.
