Adjoining the Resort, is the beautiful Pilanesberg National Park, which will delight game viewers as it is a malaria free zone and home to the Big 5.

Game Trackers, specialist Wildlife Safari's Tour Operators are situated at the Welcome Centre and guests of Sun City Resort can also enjoy personalised game viewing at the neighbouring 55 000-hectare, malaria free Pilanesberg National Park. There are several wildlife options for guests to choose from.

When I was here we choose to go Bakubung. There is other gates like Kwa Maritane.

There is a shabeen in the cultural village at Sun City. It`s really nice as the food is nice and atmosphere is nice. This is just like a shabeen in the townships as you can buy your beers and the food is what you`ll find in a shabeen like pap and gravy with steak and they also got stuff like steak and chips ,burgers and things like that. There is a Dj there that plays music so you welcome to dance and enjoy yourself.

I never would even imagine a place like this at Sun City but I have to say I enjoyed visiting there.

I booked to go for a game drive here at Bakubung which I totally enjoyed. It was a 3 hour drive in which we saw alot Elephant , Rhino , Lion and various antelope. We also had the option of have a bush braai there after the game drive but we didn`t do it as it was too cold. The game drive started at 3pm and finished at 6pm , they offered us blankets and juice and water when on the game drive.

At the Bakubung lodge there is a nice restaurant there if you want to have dinner or lunch there before or after the game drive.

I booked the Bakubung game drive when I stayed at Authentic French Guest House which was about half the price Sun City was charging for the same game drive.

Take a walk down to waterworld where the jetties and boats are located and you will see these large fish lazing around in the lake. The highlight is when the cafe manager puts on a show for his patrons. He throws some bread scraps into the lake and turmoil breaks loose as the fish go on a rampage.

Worth the price of a coffee, or you can bring your own bread.

The animal farm was very popular with young and old. It contained a South African farmyard with goats etc and had pathways where you could get up close to the animals. Nearby was the aviary where the birds pf prey, macaw and a variety of other birds were housed.

We were in Sun City late May and just in time to see the Wave Pool in operation as the next day it was to close down for winter. It is an amazing place and much larger than I imagined, a small ocean and beach in the middle of Africa, many hundreds of miles from the Ocean. The waves come up regularly, with sound, and it is like being at the beach.

With a background of the Palace on one side and lush forest and vegetation on other sides it really is something to see. Within the grounds and close to the pool are the Amphitheatre, Royal Bath,Observation Bar etc.

The Entertainment Centre covers a broad range of entertainment for all age groups ranging from amusement arcade games, movie zone showing the recent blockbusters, a great selection of retail shops from fashion to pharmacy.

The centre also has a section containing some very good fast food/ market cafes which provide excellent meals catering for all tastes and ages. The Pizza, Indian and chicken outlets were very popular and catered for inhouse or take away.

Just what every parent wants, somewhere for the kids to play and be supervised whilst you have a few hours for yourself. The supervised activity programme for all children aged 2 to 12 years is something most children appreciate.
