We enjoyed this demonstration so much we attended on 2 afternoons for this 45 minute display. The handler explained the training and would let the various birds of prey free fly. Sometimes they would fly to a tree across the park but somehow he always got them to return. He told us the system works on a reward system and when the birds return to his gloved hand they are rewarded with some tasty food.
From the photos you will get an appreciation of how nice the Resort grounds are.
Displays are also held in the morning at 10am, afternoon, 3pm.

Obviously the most noticeable attraction of the Valley, the wave pool alternates between series' of waves (when tubes are allowed), and single, large, waves (no tubes allowed). The pool is surrounded by cliffs, and a large enough beach for holiday-makers. If you want to sit comfortably on the beach though, get there early! In the summer it can be very crowded.

In the main entertainment center there is also a kids area, with loads of computer games, from shoot-em-ups, driving, etc... everything kids love! there's also prizes to be won, through ticket collecting at various games... last time i was here with Dana, i spent rather a lot of time playing these games... :-D Great fun!

Sun City was originally designed and built as a casino complex, and though it now offers SO much more, gambling is still a big part of the attraction. This tip is specificaly about the entertainment center, which is mostly slot machines... upstairs is a smaller smoking casino, also comprised entirely of slot machines, from 50c to R2, if i remember correctly.

In the Valley of the waves, above the wave pool, is an idyllic pool deck, with a large, shallow-ish pool, fantastic bar, and a nice lounging/suntanning area... generally loads of deck chairs available, as everyone seems to prefer being on the beach :-p waiter service is the norm for drinks orders too. My favourite spot :-)

I've done the slide 4 or 5 times now, and its just as exciting every time... imagine 'falling' about 15 meters down an almost vertical waterslide, before sliding at incredible speed into the standing water at the bottom of the slide... brilliant fun! but you constantly end up with bits of your costume stuck in your arse...

The landscape in the park is awesome, made up over 55,000 hectares of rolling plains and situated within an extinct volcanic cater and surrounded by hills creating a natural boundary. The long wheat grasses edge themselves beside the dirt road, low wooded trees scattered amongst the hazy heated terrain melt into the hill ,which surround the grassy level plains. The sunshine filters light on the mellow yellow grasses and camouflages the animals in the heat of the African sunshine.
All tours to the Pilanesberg National Park can be organized through any of the hotels in Sun City or at the information center (welcome center) which is located just near the entertainment centre.
For self driving you can pick-up a map from the welcome centre.
Other tours available can be done through www.gametrac.co.za which has a desk located in the welcome centre.

For those who love to gamble, Sun City offers a fabulous casino which caters for every ones whims and needs.
There is a high stakes table, a non-smoking casino, smoking casino, slot machines and bingo.
We had a fantastic night here and won a few jackpots which actually paid for our whole Sth African trip !!
The casino also offers excellent entertainment throughout the evening.

The wave pool is heaps of fun and probably is the best activity for the whole family. Its a man made lagoon were waves are created by water being sucked into huge hoppers and the released to create a wave. The size of the waves vary between 3 - 8 feet and are ideal for body surfing.
A kiosk selling drinks and food is available and umbrellas can be hired from the wave pool shop.

There are two slides called the Scorpion and the Tarantula, they are designed for those who do not wish to be brave to tackle the tube rides. There is a safe swimming pool which one lands in after swirling through tunnels and corridors. Its a great way to have fun with the family.
The tubes are designed for those who have NO FEAR ! The slide drops 15meters into a chute and is called the Temple of Courage for obvious reasons.
