A boma is a small area enclosed by a reed or grass fence. In the bush they were built as protection from wild animals. You usually have a fire in the middle so you can sit around it. Staring at the flames and listening to the sounds of the bush (frogs, crickets and pesky mosquitoes!) is heaven on earth!!

No Safari is complete without a good old South African Braai (Barbeque). You must try boerewors, an excellent spiced sausage which can be more than a meter long. It is cooked coiled up in one piece and then cut when served. A boerie roll is a hotdog with boerewors sausage.

You can organise private game drives early in the morning or late afternoon when it is not too hot. Take along a cooler box with drinks for a touch of luxury.

There are no big cats so it is fairly safe to go for walks in the bush. Watch out for baboons they can get pretty aggressive if you get in their way!

Thabazimbi is about 1000 meters above sea-level and is close to Rustenburg, Brits, Warmbaths and Ellisras, which are each about 130km from Thabazimbi. Pretoria lies about 200km south-east.
