Favorite thing: In early 2004 the Magoebaskloof Hotel, built in 1937, was gutted by fire. Redesigned in line with modern trends, the new hotel still retains its renowned warmth and friendly hospitality. Accommodation comprises 38 bedrooms, including eight self-catering apartments.
The innovative new piazza and continental café overlooks the spectacular mountain and forest scenery. Upgraded conference facilities cater for up to 200 delegates. The hotel is an ideal weekend getaway or stop-over on the way to the northern Kruger Park.
Fondest memory: On-site facilities include squash, bowls, swimming-pool, Samango Monkey project, waterfall and forest walks, two pubs, pool, darts, a shop and small health and beauty salon. Nearby activities include raft cruises, adventure activities, scenic forest drives and cultural and heritage tours.
