Please do not walk around in the town centre at night this can be dangerous, also be vigilant when using ATM banking machines, if someone offers to help you do not be distracted just remove you card from the machine and wait for them to move away. They do sometimes try and distract a person and then swap cards.
Do not keep mobile phones visable they are a favorite for the criminal element to snatch and run.
Please do not leave valuables visable in a car rather lock these in the boot (trunk).
The above tips are applicable to most places in South Africa if not most of the world.

Beware of speeding in and around White River. The speed limit in the town is 60km and there are traffic cameras in a lot of places.

The hotel management warned not to walk the streets after dark (which is at about 18.00 hrs!) due to crime. Don't take the chance and drive, even if it's only a 10 minute walk.

The place White River is not that mentionable. But it was a good base during our 3 day stay, to explore Kruger Park and other sights in Mpumalanga.
