Crop sprayers
The Gezira area is agricultural land, so farming is still the main occupation. Since the Gezira Scheme was established by the British in the 1920s ,tenants have rented land to grow cotton, sorghum, peanuts and vegetables, as well as wheat, rice and sesame.Because cotton particularly is vulnerable to pests, the crop is sprayed from the air. Small aircraft can be seen flying in the appropriate season, or parked in a field at other times.
