When travelling in the north of Sudan , a stay in Merowe or Karima is worthwhile. The main archaeological sites are:Barkal- the mountain, museum and pyramidsNuri- pyramidsEl-Kuru - painted tombsPetrified Forest new Merowe DamThese I can vouch for, but there are many other places that deserve a visit. However the group I mentioned are all within easy reach of Karima and Merowe.
