The church
My first time in Medani was during Ramadan and back home in Omdurman the call to prayer at the mosques nearby were blasting out full volume all through the day. It was such a bizarre feeling to wake up on a Sunday morning to the gentle tinkle of church bells. So I spent part of the morning visiting the old church on Nile Street, very much resembling an English country village church and far more attractive than most in Khartoum. After just a brief wander I met some wonderfully interesting people and many displaced Southerners who spend a lot of time there. Definitely well worth a visit.
