Local traditions and culture in Wilayat al Qadarif

After coping with excessive litter in almost every part of Sudan, it was a relief to see that the Gedarif authorities have made some moves to conquer the problem. In fact, they have succeeded in getting rid of most litter by one simple move...banning plastic bags! If you go shopping, you'll be given a large, thick brown envelope, which can be re-used. Some shops also make you pay extra for them, to discourage throwing them away...and with that simple move, 80% of litter has been removed from the streets. Other cities can learn from Gedarif, methinks...
