Mbabane is the capital of Swaziland and let's face it, it's never going to win any beauty awards. Right, now for the ironies...
Firstly, the conifers, Swaziland has a strange obsession with them. Congratulations to Swaziland for planting huge numbers of them everywhere in an effort to earn themselves some money. Not the poorest country in Africa, but Swaziland like other countries has to juggle the needs of it's people (and hence the need for revenue) against the needs of conservation - guess which loses.
Secondly, like many places on main tourist routes, you get your souvenir stalls. And what a range of goods here - carved giraffes, rhinos, lions, elephants, native African faces, bowls, Ganj...
...Ganj??? Yup, two lads were offered the stuff, said no and made exit right. I'm not saying where in Swaziland - a real mugs game drugs.
What to pay: Haggling for the souvenirs will only get you approximately 20% of first price - Swaziland is a hard place to haggle. That is despite me seriously turning on the charm with some of the women selling the souvenirs.
