Dress is generally casual by day and casual to smart in the evenings, depending on the venue.Shorts, t-shirts and sundresses are acceptable. Pack jerseys/pullovers for cooler evenings and coats for winter.Visitors should take sports and swim wear and for walkers, a good pair of shoes is essential.We visited during winter and wore summer clothes during the day and a cardigan in the evenings.
Year round, the ladies will need summer dresses, skirts, slacks, and blouses. In the evening on the Highveld and during the winter months (May to September) a sweater is necessary. Gentlemen wear lightweight lounge suits, slacks and sportcoats, safari suits with either long or short trousers, and shorts and casual shirts. During the evening, at smart hotels and restaurants, gentlemen are expected to wear a jacket and a tie. Formal evening dress is seldom worn unless visitors are attending a gala function or elegant private dinner party
While in Mlilwane wildlife reserve, we saw alot of incredible birds and were so glad we had our binoculars with us because otherwise we wouldn't have even seen them. We kept hearing them but then had to find them, and could only do so with the help of the binoculars. We're not avid birdwatchers, but some of the birds were incredible so am glad we didn't miss them. The bird in the photo didn't mid getting too close, as it was quite interested in the fresh fruit we had for breakfast.
Take a flashlight! We stayed in a tent in the middle of the jungle and it was a long and dar walk. It is better to see what you are coming up against rather than bumping into it.
