I frequent Dodoma from abroad. I have found some gay life that would be only shared with gay guys visiting Dodoma and Dar Es Salaam. Tanzania does not acknowledge homosexuality, but as in any society it still exists. However, confidentiality has to be maintained and at times guys are not sure of, or are unaccepting of, their sexuality. but i have been invited to pleasant dinners and parties. bestcock999@gmail.com

Climb Simba hill to see Dodoma from above. Magnificent view! A bit awkward to reach maybe, but it's worth a try.

Sometimes along the way you'll encounter Masai tribes people. To me they are wonderful and they've got class in their own way. I really adore and respect them for their way of living.
Masai attire is quite remarkably colourful, lot's of jewelery they manufacture themselfs. Here, unfortunately, because it's nippy in the early hours everything is covered up.

Dodoma is sort of a central intersection which can be reached by road from most of the bigger towns in Tanzania.
If you overland there's no problem reaching any place of interest from here.

We visited a local church, led by a minister called Amos ; even a few coins in the offertory bag meant a lot to them!

Don't make pictures without asking or 'people might get reactive' - as one of the locals put it. On the other hand: some won't mind at all, they'll even become enthousiastic and call out loud 'picha, picha' (which is Swahili for 'picture') - the trouble is you can never tell what kind of reaction to expect...

Favorite thing: As my Tanzania pages collate several trips over the years I put the safari bit in a travelogue in the Tanzania page and Zanzibar in the Dar page. To get an overview I suggest you look at all of them.
