    RELAX

    Remember the sunscreen!

Time stops here. You should too. Please remember that if you ask for something it will take between 1 hour and 3 days. If you know this in advance, both parties will be happy. Order food before you are hungry. Arrange transport when you arrive. Relax. Do nothing. Sleep.....

    Kitesurfing for beginners

by lyson Written Dec 30, 2013

East coast of Zanzibar is the perfect spot for learning kitesurfing. It is windy, has almost no waves (because of the reef protecting it from the wide ocean) and has beautiful sandy lagoons with thousands of share meters of blue water just over white sand.
The place very popular with kite surfers is Paje - there are at least 5 schools/centres and lots of kitesurfers in the sea.
Jambiani which is only 5 km from Paje is not that popular - there is only one big school on the far end of the village, behind the Coral Rock hotel.
There is, however one kitesurfing school just being opened in the centre of Jambiani (as of December 2013) - in Casa del Mar hotel. If you consider trying your strengths in this sport and are the beginner - I would definitely recommend this one. It is cheaper than the others (280 EUR for 3 day course as compared to 320 EUR in the other schools in the neighborhood). It does not have the competition in the area - which means that you have the beautiful sandy lagoon in front of the Jambiani village just for yourself - unlike the Paje beach where you can have 50 kitesurfers around.
Also - the guy that owns the school - Leo Holland - will teach you himself. It is likely that you will have the individual lessons with him (in other schools you end up in the group of other 4 students and will pay more money).
The school does not yet have a stand right on the beach - to find it you need to ask about Leo or kitesurfing in Casa del Mar hotel. His number is +255 777 554 629.
Myself - due to the perfect learning conditions and great instructing from Leo, on the third day of the course I was already surfing (basic level - but it is FUN!)
    Enjoy!
