Karatu is a friendly please to have a walk about. If you are on safari then you should take the opportunity to stretch your legs while you can because all that journeying about in jeeps can make you keen to move about a bit.

There is a really good market in Karatu. Mainly food but it is fantastic to explore and maybe buy yourself some fruit there.

This was fantastic, a great place for a coffee or in my case a long awaited Hot Chocolate and also a bar and serves good food, Bytes was great for a bite, a sit and a chat and also of course much needed corrospondence in the middle of Africa. Owned by an english couple it is completely unexpected in the middle of a very African small town close to Ngorongoro Crater. Like stepping back into a more westernised world it was a great place to venture and tell the rest of the world my African tales via email. The Hot Chocolate was fantastic too!

Favorite Dish: Hot Chocolate.... yum... I hadnt had one of these in ages and in the middle of nowhere small town Africa, here I find one of the best!
