The Mbozi meteorite is an amazing piece fallen from Heaven. Weight is 12 tons of mostly iron & copper and it is the 8th biggest recorded on earth. Actually the size is not as spectacular as you may expect, but then it comes from space and just lying there in the Tanzanian countryside! Definitely worth a visit - especially if you also usually enjoying countryside and its people - , but don't expect any exploited tourist attraction, it is just the meteorite, and - sometimes there might be a caretaker around to charge a small fee in return of his story.

On the junction to the Meteorite (go there by dalla dalla) it is easy to rent a bicycle to actually get there; it helps if you are with a local guide to negotiate the price, but there's no reason to NOT pay a good price even the quality is ***. The trip to the meteorite is really nice. It is not too easy however, you will face about 12km one way of going up and downhill, so bring anything to drink.

Favorite thing: The road to the Meteorite is actually not so flat, and now and then we had to walk uphill; giving 2 dozen of schoolkids from the surrounding villages the chance to follow us at a safe distance (they were very shy as there are not many foreigners taking the effort to come all the way here...); of course I regularly turned my back and tried to scare them away, but apparently I was not that impressive...we spend 2 hours at the Meteorite and they didn't leave, being entertained by Peter Adventure Tours and just by the presence of the white man. Actually we all had a lot of fun, and it added a bit of experience to the otherwise tranquil spot.
