Favorite thing: There is a small post office in Sengerema. It actually works - probably even better than the one in Mwanza where the staff is totally corrupted. Be friendly with the people working here and there is absolutely no hazzle at all. The opening hours change a bit and sometimes the office is open, but no one is around, but just take a seat, realx and wait. They will show up eventually.

Favorite thing: You CAN get in contact with the rest of the world when you are in Sengerema. There is a Tele Centre down town where you can use internet. There is no generator, so the whole system breaks down quite often. It's a problem especially during the rainy season, but heck! It's there! It costs 1000 sh for one hour.

Favorite thing: Don't freak out if you get malaria - chances are you will at some point. Sengerema is a very good place to stay if something goes wrong. They have a really good hospital, and there are always 2 or three European doctors working there, so you are in good hands. Don't rush off to Mwanza if you think you have malaria - stay in Sengerema and contact one of the doctors. You'll get the best treatment here.
If you suspect malaria start of by going to one of the numerous duka la dawa in town (I would suggest Mr. Shayos Dispensary next to the market) and have a blood slide done. It costs 200 sh and is more accurate than a test at the hospital. If the test is positive you can either go to the hospital or buy drugs at his duka. The medicine is fine.
