Emirates Express shuttle Tanga - Mombasa
I used Emirates Express minibus shuttle to go from Tanga to Momabasa. The advantage of the service is that it leaves with first light, seats can be reserved in advance, and it departs right from the entrance of the Khayrat Hotel where I was staying. Another great plus is that it ends up in the bus station in Mombasa on Mwembe Tayari road next to several budget hotels, and the offices of Coastal Bus which offers services to Nairobi. The big minus (if you want to see the scenery) is that the seats are raised way over the floor, to make room for luggage storage under the seats (rather than on the roof). As a result, even if you have a window seat, you end up looking at the plastic paneling of the minivan roof, with the top of the window at the level of your neck.
