Good diving of the west coast while you stay in Stone Town to explore its narrow streets and alleys. Excellent and very friendly staff - Sufi did an excellent job as a divemaster!!!
Very good value for money! For more information on the different dive sites and prices go to their webpage (see below).

Stone town - just walk around and get lost! that can take up half a day! there are plenty of souvenir shops in stone town but theyre quite pricey. there are beaches in stone town but the waters not so nice. Most people do a spice tour for $20 which takes you to the spice farms.
Nungwi - there are diving and snorkelling operators taking you out to a nearby atoll. otherwise just sit back and relax and enjoy the beautiful beach. Or take out motorbikes $30 or a jeep $60 and ride and ride around the island and find even more beautiful beaches!

Only the beaches in front of resort hotels are busy - and then by busy I mean a few tourists lying around.
You can hire a dhow to take you to deserted beaches if you like.
Swimming, diving and snorkelling can be fantastic around Zanzibar and Pemba.
However, some beaches (such as Chwaka) are gorgeous but very very shallow.
Seaweed can also be a problem if you want to swim. It is a local industry - the weed is collected to be sold.

Swim with dolphins! We were lucky to 'meet' about 15 of those and we swam alone with them (no other turists around - we were there during low season).
Go with the local people as guides - our 'guides' were very enthusiastic and gentle with the dolphins.
