See the local swamps and mangroves. There's a lot oflife.Visit the coasts and swamps by boat.you can rent boats in every village,of course with a local guide.Gambia is a small country,so there isn't much to see.You can visit the capital Banjul, but it isn't interesting.Visit the jungles and brooks. The nature in gambia is more interesting than the discusting city of banjul. I was only 5 years old when I visited gambia. My fondest memory is...the salt water of the Atlantic ocean.I was playing in the ocean, but I fel with my open eyes in the salt water and I had a terrible pain in my eyes for the evening. So watch the water!!!!

Visit Abuko Nature reserve. A tranquil special part of The Gambia for tourists and locals. We have seen there monkeys, deer, crocodiles, snakes, eagles and many different birds and wonderful trees and flowers. Also in the centre is a small zoo containing hyena and lions donated from Holland. You can spend a whole day there walking the different trails and eating your picnic surrounded by monkeys. Drinks are available in the centre of the park and limited food. On my return from The Gambia the things I miss are all the cheerful greetings, smiling faces of children and adults and Reggae music.

Basically just relax! It's got fantastic beaches! I hope you'll love them! This was the simple pleasure of seeing my old college friend Francis M'Boge, who was a great chap i met in Oxford. His mother made the mistake of inviting me over! 3 years after graduation... I was there!

Meet a crocodile!

by TracyG

Go to the crocodile Park and shake hands with Charlie, the (tame!) crocodile. A bit touristy, but if there is only one touristy thing to do, make sure that this is it. Going to visit a local school, and being able to join in with one of the maths lessons. The children also sang us songs and made us little presents. It was very emotional, considering the school was no more than a large garden shed......!

Sitting in the down town Hotel Adonis in Banjul (the tourist hotel The Atlantic was overbooked)having breakfast watching the world wake up. Relax and spend time soaking up what is probably a better way of life, though I know I wouldn't have the guts to live in The Gambia. Everybody was so interested in us. If they wanted money they did not show it... they just wanted to spend time with somebody so different. No real hassle those days but I remember wandering round a poorer part of Banjul on my own and being called a 'honky'!

One of the great things about Gambia is once you make freinds its fun to let them share their local knowledge and take to to some of the more out of the way places
