Not for us though
As there was a long queue for the vehicle ferry, we decided to take a small boat across first and let the vans come afterwards with our luggage. At least we could look around and have some lunch while we waited for the cars.

The second class boat wasn't quite so "luxurious", it offered no shade and was prone to overcrowding!
The locals didn't travel quite as well as we did, but at least the first class boat had a roof to protect them from the sun!
Also available from Janjanbureh was cruises along the river on a large wooden boat. Most people sat out on deck - don't forget your sun cream and hat!
The car ferry from the south bank of the river to MacCarthy Island is a hand pulled thing - much fun! Everybody takes part and helps to pull the ferry across.
