The main tourism area with many bars, restaurants and night clubs. Most have some sort of happy hour but in general on that strip, prices are salty.
My choice is Come Inn Bar and Restaurant in Kololi, close by the tourism area, which offers great value for money. It offers a rich variety of European and African cuisine at moderate prices. Dishes are between 100 and 300 Dalasi (rate approx. 48 Dalasi per Pound lr 40 Dalasi per Euro, Jan 2012) and they have cold draft beer. There is a good variety of shrimp, fish, porc and beef dishes. Their fish and chips, steak and jacket potatoe, shrimp coctail are among my favourites.
The place is very clean, wide and airy, has a wonderful garden and a spacious, well stocked bar.
For sport fans there is two large screen TVs where they show football, mainly premier league and championship cups as well as the Formular 1 car race. Special programs might be tuned upon request. Regularly the fan comunitys (local and tourists) are gathering to watch the important matches.
Favorite Dish: Shrimp coctail and dishes as well as fish dishes, because they are made from fresh local shrimp and fish. The steak is great, because it is grilled exactly to my liking and it is tender. The African dishes (Domoda, Yassa) are also available and cooked with high quality ingredients.

So far from home and there it is! One of Belgium’s’ best beers in the refrigerator of Lebanese businessman. It is very expensive to drink imported beers, so expect to pay almost 2.5€ for a can of Stella.

Family owned restaurant on the beach. Friendly athmosphere and so quiet. Noone tries to sell you something and you can relax in the sunbeds to easy African music (sometimes some live drumming) and take a dip in the ocean in front of you... Simply wonderful.

Live music whilst sitting outdoors, correct waiter service and nice food. The owner Jojo is lovely and creates a good atmosphere. We had to wait a bit longer then usual for our food to arrive but that did not mind us. Wine was good, but expensive. Food was more expensive then in other restaurants but for that one night we did not mind.
Favorite Dish: We had the special of the day

Lovely setting and it came recommened so we went there for lunch. Service was not of good standard, especially if you compare it with the prices they charge you. We ordered and after 5 minutes they came and tell us our choice was not available - can happen. After our second order they came back again with the same message - so in the end we just ordered a steak sandwich and a cheese sandwich. Steak was hard and was too spicy and way to much onion. We did not like this place and after our complaints we were offered a free coffee......which ended up on the bill in the end. So just paid and left. Never again.

great indian restaurant - waiters are very friendly. Service a bit slow but that did not really matter as the food was just great. Nice selection and also option to sit inside or outside. We saw many Indians eat there so we figured the food would be good. It was.
Favorite Dish: Papadums and spicy dumplings

You would think that with a name like Denmark restaurant you end up eating danish specialities but to say the least they offer a great selection of local Gambian dishes like domoda, benachin and yassa. good portions, friendly service and basic but good.
Favorite Dish: Fish benachin

By chance we found this place, which is on Kairaba Avenue in Fajara. Butchery, Mini market and restaurant. We loved the food which was basic but tasty. Great view on what was all happening on the road, people visiting the mini market and the butchery. For a quick lunch or a cheap bite at night - the excellent choice.
Favorite Dish: Selection of lebanese dishes and grills.

We found this restaurant on tripadvisor as rated one of the best and it is sooo true. This is just the best restaurant. Great decor, fantastic service, friendly owners, fantastic food and cocktails and great value for money - what more do you want?
We sat outdoors and it was perfect, comfortable chairs - great linnen and a fantastic welcome by the owners. The service was efficient and friendly, we had difficulties making up our mind what to choose, so after our first visit we returned 2 more times. Every time it was just perfect. Try the Carne El Sol, the Apple Mojito, the pescado Mexicana and please don't forget the steamed chocolate pudding. That is to die for....and you know what was also fantastic - they serve a decent espresso (Nespresso!)
Favorite Dish: All the food is just lovely but the Carne El Sol is just the best. Great fillet steak, marinated and then they pour flaming tequilla over it on your table. Great portion and therefor excellent value for money.

A clean restaurant with lovely staff who will do everything they possibly can to make your stay in The Gambia enjoyable. They prepared and cooked a special meal for my wife and I plus two friends just because I asked what was in a particular African dish. The beer is half the price you pay in the hotel (35 dalasis for a bottle of julbrew) There is a big menue with a large variety so there will be something to suit everyone, from a cheese sandwich to an African dish such as Supa Kanja Try the Cinnamon Ice Cream with Grand mother's sauce it's fabulous
Favorite Dish: Curry soup, a thin soup that tasts just like my local chinese,
Followed by
Butterfish with baked potato
And to finnish
Cinnamon Ice Cream with Grandmothers Sauce
I could eat it right now!
