Ali Baba: Senegambia area, open air restaurant

by sachara

Around the corner of the Ali Baba restaurant you will find the exchange office, the internetcafe, some more restaurants and several shops. At the backside of the Ali Baba bar & restaurant is a lovely garden. Here you can have your meals too. This is also the place to go for listening to local bands and dancing.

Ali Baba and others: Senegambia area, the place to meet

by sachara

In the Senegambia area, the road to the Senegambia Hotel at the beach you will find several restaurants, a few supermarkets, an internetcafe, exchange office and the Senegambian craftmarket. It's the place to meet. There are a lot of tourists around. You can sit at the terraces and chose to eat Italian, Lebanese, Caribbean, Gambian or international.Everybody knows the Ali Baba Restaurant, so it's a good meeting point . You can park around the corner. Just sit at the terrace and wait till your friends will arrive. For lunch I liked the tuna salad at the terrace of Ali Baba. For pizza's I went to Paradisio La Parisienne at the same side of the road about 50 M from Ali Baba.

Try the Palm Wine

by Wafro

When you’re in Africa you certainly should try the local specialties. One of them is Palm Wine, they tap the wine on top of the tree without destroying it.The prices are different in each country, but you can buy almost 2 liters of palm wine for the price of one large beer. You’ll have to drink a lot of this fluent too get drunk.ENJOY IT!!!

Coconut Lodge Bar and Restaurant: Always freshly cooked

by Caryntay

All food is always freshly prepared and you can usually request a dish that you would like. Traditional Gambian dishes to fish and chips. Followed by fresh fruit and a cold beer and a game of crazy eight! If you are lucky you may have some of the lads play drums for you. My favourite dish is chicken yassa. A very rich chicken portion dish covered in an onion sauce.

Not really a favorite. Most of the restaurants are situated in the KOLOLI area, where most of the hotels can be found.Nieuwe pagina 3 Nothing special. The fresh fish from the Atlantic Ocean is great. Try the baracuda or Ladyfish.Out of the Kololi area it is rather cheap to have a seafood dish.

The hotels at the coast sides have very special meals.Local cuisine, africancuisine, but you can also eat international meals...The hygienic meals in the hotels are diferrent than the meals that you buy at the street! I don't know the name, but I remember a grilled, hot fish and I found it good. There are also coconuts, and wood specialities.

Franciscos!: Franciscos!

by MarcoAntonio

The restaurant was calm and relaxing! Mind you, there were no street lights, so if you go out, best take a torch! I had some great fish dish there! Most of the time I ate at my friend's house! That was hot and tasty I can tell you!

A very long time ago but I remember a great restaurant called something like The Braustubl in Banjul where we had peanut stew. It was at night and Banjul was totally dark.... you need a torch to make sure that you do not fall down a drain.
