The river is the lifeline of Gambia...and from it you'll see small villages, lots of trade, and dolphins too!

Take trip along the river, and into the creeks.
It is a very pleasent way to see some of the surrounding areas and some amazing bird life, and also to get away from the hustle and bustle of Banjul.

  • Albreda village is such a charming little village, the people here a lovely, and there is a great batik shop that sells some of the best batik in the country, there is also a very small museum nearby, which details the slave trade in The Gambia.

Abuko Nature Reserve is a great reserve, it shows a lot of animals in their natural habitat, but has also created a natural environment for animals that are not native ie. lions, it is a nice walk around and a pleasent way to spend the day.

A country with a good variation on African Flora & fauna. For birdwatchers it is an easy country to see within short time a good variation of birds. A week for me dit no less then 239 species without very active birdwatching.
Even at the area of Senegambia many birdspecies can be found that are elsewhere hard to find.
In the country side we recorded 3 species of Monkeys, 2 species of rats, a African Hare and some deers!
