The loos at Monastir airport are very good. The ones in the departures concourse are best. The ones in the departures lounge are fine - it's just that there are only two cubicles in the ladies' and there tends to be a queue, so plan your trip!!The little shops in the concourse where you check in are competitive in price to tourist areas in Monastir/Sousse. You pay in dinars. The shops in the departures lounge are expensive. You pay in Euros. The two cafes in the departure lounge take both dinars and Euros - I recommend saving some dinars to buy food, as the Euro exchange rate is not at all good.If you want to exchange dinars back into Euros or Sterling or whatever, then the only place to do it is just before you go through security into the departure lounge.
Train

The trains are excellent and clean, albeit slightly shabby and of a rather ancient vintage. Arrive and leave promptly. Train fares are very cheap. I recommend that you buy a 1st class ticket - only costs a very little more than second class. Second class gets very full. The train from Mahdia to Monastir and on to Sousse has no loos. However, the loos in Monastir train station are excellent. The loos at Sousse are acceptable but tend to be awash with water at times (it is only water, there's something amiss with the water tap in the loo). Both are "western" type.
