Monastir

by olja1234

Monastir has an internatiol airport, which is shared with the Sousse, a neighbouring town. An airport is located very close to our hotel, so we can watch airplanes taking off or landing. I must say, it wasn't inconvenienced at all. The photo was taken from our room and if you enlarge it you can see the plane landing.

Nevertheless, riding a camel is also a way of transportation. As we were expected, we took a short ride, just for a photo to be taken. Camels with resignation kneeled down, and clumsy tourists climbed up.

For sightseeing you can also take a carriage, as we did. But the tour ended shortly in a "bedoin's village" behind a wall. The locals were very friendly un till they found out that we didn't intend to buy a carpet. Actually we've bought one already.

It's a good choise to take a street train. The driver is also a guide in one person. He explains the sights driving past. Such way of taking a trip is especially convinient when (if) weather is rainy, like it was on the day when this photo was taken.

Louage - the best way to travel in Tunisia

by Airpunk

The "louage" is a kind of shared taxi and is surely the best way to travel short to medium distances. These cars are a mixture of taxis and buses and the cost is only a few dinars. The drivers are mostly friendly and they can share some tips about the area you're travelling to. Don't forget to honour this with a good tipping. The louage is a good way to get in contact with locals and surely a good altermative to buses and trains.
