brauhouse: super size beer

This restaurant is in the ecntre of Hammamet it has a lovely roof top open air restaurant as well as a closed in restaurant down stairs. Good menu the pizza is beautiful but you can get many more decent meals. We often go in there just for a beer, when we do they bring out some appetisers olives and chopped fruit/veg then you get little pizza on french loaf. Every time i have been in and had food it has been of a very high standard it is clean and with good service. I reccomend the large beer however you may be shocked at the size when you o get it.

Favorite Dish: Pizza with tuna it is beautiful

Berber fish restaurant and Brauhouse: Tourist trap
sr71blackbird profile photo
sr71blackbird 1 reviews

This restaurant in Hammamet near the medina is a real tourist trap. When we came they showed us to the best table at the top floor and tried to pursuade us to order the most expensive on the menu. We refused and ordered grilled lambchops that were so tough that they couldn´t be eaten. They also charged us for a whole bottle of wine when we only ordered a half.

Located opposite the Bel Azur hotel this quaint, romantic little restuarant offers traditional Tunisian and French dishes. If you can bag a table next to the window you'll get wafts of jasmine and get to watch the world go by. Lots of antique and vintage objects in the restaurants which will make your eyes wander and you'll end up realising you've been ignoring your partner all night! ;)

Favorite Dish: Fish soup was to die for!!

THE STEAKHOUSE: PUB GRUB
d&gspain profile photo

Ok, "The Steakhouse" is not a pub or part of brewery but the menu is like walking into a a Beefeaters in the UK. This is a new restaurant that has just opened at the entrance of the medina and it was only opened 2 days before we left but we still managed two visits!!

The food is fantastic especilly the platter (a plate full of finger food ranging from chicken bites, turkey goujons etc) accompanied by some scrummy dips. The Parisien Mushrooms are also to die for especially when you dip your bread in the cream sauce...yummy!

For mains they cover everything from grills to steaks and their desserts shouldn't be missed either!!

Definately one to put on your list!

Favorite Dish: Favourite two dishes were the Platter and the Parisien Mushrooms.

LA VOILIER: TOP CLASS NOSH

Ok, you are in Yasmine Hammamet in Tunisia and you want to eat excellent food, recieve excellent service and not pay through the nose for it. Well, in the new marina in Yasmine, there is an amazing restauramt called Le Voilier. Mediterranean cusine done with that Tunisian twist. The restaurant decor is classical yet modern and the waiting staff are extremely friednly and only too happy to explain the dishes wine or anything relating to the history of Tunisia!!

The food.....it was that good we ate there 4 times during our 2 week stay and each time ordered different dishes and each time we were blown away by the flavours and quality of the food. The wine list covers all the local wines with one of the best being Muscat De Kelabia (which most restaurants will stock)

Favorite Dish: Top dishes for startes include the 70's favourite Prawn Cocktail, Baby Red Mullet served with green pesto & the beef carpaccio, favourite main courses were duo kebabs (Prawns & Sea Bass) & beef fillets served with a brandy & mushroom cream sauce. Favourite desserts ALL OF THEM!!.

This is one restaurant you need to put on your list!

Le Barberousse: Views across the sea
clouds111 profile photo
clouds111 254 reviews

Within the medina walls near the ramparts of the old fort, you get great views across the sea, beach, town and the medina. Great romantic atmosphere and the food and service is good. Fresh fish in abundance! The interior of this resturant is fantastic and just how it should be set inside this old medina.

Any tunisian restaurant: Must try Ojja

ojja

If you are visiting Hammamet, or indeed anywhere in Tunisia, I would strongly recommend Ojja. I had it in a cafe in the old town at hammamet. Picked it at random, and when it came was a little concerned I had made a mistake. Was not disappointed though. I like spicy food, and this was a very spicy version of it, however this was not always so. Many other places served a much milder or altogether non-spicy version. Convinced my girlfriend to try it and she cannot deal with spicyness and she now loves it too.

The basic version of it is a hot soupy mixture of tomatoes, garlic, egg, green peppers and harissa (North African spice). You can also have it with merguez (spicy sausage) or prawn through it. Both great.

Added bonus is that it is very healthy and good for you. Cannot recommend it enough. Also very easy to make yourself.

Looks newly re-furbished to the highest quality. Food is the highest quality we have ever had in 30 years of holidaying and the waiters are so attentive it really is 5 star.

Favorite Dish: Garlic studded whole leg of lamb (ordered 24 hours before - unbeleivable)
Lobster with breaded king prawns (plus 2 bottles of rose wine - £30!!)

the only nite i've dined out the hotel, well, i went to the yasmine marina and choose one of the dozen restaurants on the site. wonderful ambient and almost surrounded by water, makes it the perfect spot for diner. outside "esplanada" and a nice view to the marina, and at the same time "watch" and enjoy tunisian and tourists passing by.

Favorite Dish: yu should try any tunisian dishes, like the famous cous-cous, and yu shouldn miss, their wonderfull desserts.

We split our visit to Tunisia in half, a week in Hammamet and a week in Port El Elkantoui. Our base for our time in Hammamet was the 4 Star Azizia hotel, which is located right on the beach.
