  • There are many ways going to Hammamet from Tunis. The best ways is to rent a car (80 Euros per day). If youıre on a budget, the bus is a better way for travel. Going to Hammamet from Tunis I took the train. Which was 6 dinars and took me about 1 and half hour. From Hammamet to Tunis I took a local bus for 3 dinars and the travel time was 40 minutes. Just ask your hotel for the local bus information. They have mini bus going to all near by cities from Hammamet. The problem is that the bus would not leave until its full. Itıs normally an 8-seat bus.

Cabs are cheap and is a better way getting around the city.

  • To travel around hammamet and to reach other cities you can travel by buses. This is in fact (most of the time) cars with 6 sitting places and it kind of work like a taxi and it leave the taxi station just when it all the place have been rented. So if you're lucky you can leave immediately but sometimes you'll have to wait at least 20 mn. So no surprise there is no schedule.
This type of transportation is really cheap and it is less expensive than the excursion that hotels propose and you'll have more fun.
Tip : if you travel during the summer season, be aware that there is no A/C in these old cars.

  • Most of the times, hotels are built around hammamet so you'll need to take a taxi to get to the city center. There is no public transportation so this is the most convenient way to go anywhere yu want.
Prices are not that bad so you'll be able to take a cab as many times as you want.
Just be sure that you take a yellow cab, and that the counter is on. If you have any problems with the drivers you can just tell him that you'll call the police and he'll give you the right price

  • The best way to get around anywhere in Tunisia is to hire one of the numerous yellow taxis that are freely available and above all CHEAP!! agree a price before you get in though.

The average taxi ride costs about 4 dinars for about 3 miles!

If you choose to stay in hammamet you will probably stay in a Hotel around Hammamet and in order to reach to the city center there are two alternatives..

There is a mini train running from South of Hammamet to the city center.. Travel distance is around 12 km. The cost is 2,5 Dinars per person.. Trains or Train shaped cars are using the same route with normal cars and if you are more than 2-3 people they can be expensive cause taxis are cheap..

  • The best way to move around is by taxi. It's very cheap, fast, reliable and convenient.Drivers are everywhere,it's easy to take a cab in the street. It's much better than going by bus, it seems they do not consider time that much :-)

If you are on a low budget, try to take the busses as much as possible. You can save a lot. Bus stands are sometimes not visible as one, just watch a crowd of people in the street, probably there is one.

    Some fares:

Hammamet-Yasmin to Hammamet Medina: 0,4 Dinar (24 Eurocent). With a taxi you pay 7-8 Dinars, and they are not so much quicker.

Hammamet-Yasmin to Nabeul: not totally sure, but about 1,2 Dinar.
