We had the surprise to see some people walking by our side and asking us if we were interested to buy some cannabis. It was really funny because the police was just 10 meter away from us but this man asked us. Just for information in Tunisia, drug is strictely forbidden even for "personnal use". So if you don't want to visit their prison be carefull. Heard that it is not that nice there. Leave a Comment

You'll notice when walking in the street that many people will cross the street in front of you by saying : " remember me? I work in your hotel" In fact this is not true. These men are doing this so you'll think that they are from your hotel and you'll take to them. Then they will tell you that they have a free day and will propose their services as a guide for a day. In fact they are working for shops vendors and their jobs is to bring tourists in shops and they get a percentage on what have been sold. So don't trust any of them. Leave a Comment

by quartinb tunisians are very "graby". at shopping and every where ,were, there are handycrafts items, small camelots fair or the gorgeous and busy souks all around tunisia.u all know by now how to deal with it. but the tip here is about lonely girls. if u go there on your own or with a girl friend, well, you'll be the target, for the tunisian machoman. even a regular couple, if the man leaves the gfriend or wife behind or alone, when u return a tunisian guy will be close. so don't feel do annoy, and with a smile is the best way to deal with. Tunisia is beautiful but your holiday is likely to be spoiled by annoying mosquitoes! So, make sure you bring a bottle or two of efficient mosquito repellent. Leave a Comment

If you are a girl and decide to walk a bit, alone, prepare yourself to be harassed by local men. If you don't want to make "contact" with local men, avoid this situation. Leave a Comment

Some of the hotels in this beach town don't have heat, so if you go in the winter be sure to ask beforehand. You should pack something warm in any case, it does get quite chilly, especially at night. Leave a Comment

If you travel without male company, it will automatically lead you to a lot of unwanted attention through the male population. As you may think, the waiters could be an exeption, because they fear to lose their job, you are wrong. Even they will constantly trying to hit on you. Some experiences I just have to share: Waiter upon the mention of my boyfriend: "Boyfriend? Here in Tunisia? No? So, no problem for me. Another waiter, whom I really broke the heart, he wandered around with his sad face all the time afterwards. He kept on coming to my table, even wanted to discuss the topic, how I have to understand, he is tunesien, he needs me alone for himself etc. Well, take it with a sense of humour, usually one refuse puts them off. Young men at the medina implying that you should know them because they work at your hotels. They use this to catch your attention and then guide you to their "family" stores. Yet another way to get you to pay attention to a sales pitch. Shopping is shopping, but don't expect any bargains just because "they work at your hotel." Bargain hard and expect them to use their new-found link to separate you from as much of your money as they can Leave a Comment

this beach bar has got worse and worse over the last few years it has gotten really run down with no effort to clean up the area or make repairs to the bar itself the kitchen is located at the back of the hut right next to the disgraceful toilets which i have never seen cleaned and are often unusable the kitchen itself is absolutely disgraceful with an old dirty worktop and sink area the beach bar itself does not reflect the hotel bel air as this hotel is totally clean it just uses the name to attract english people it is owned and run by locals i think the hotel rents it out they encourage beach sellers who they know and charge them a percentage of what they sell to tourists which encourages the seller to rip off tourists please be sure to check your bill as some staff will attempt to charge you without giving you a bill so that they can charge extra for themselves all in all this is a terrible beach bar and there is much nicer in the area Other Contact: opposite african queen hotel
