Luggage and bags: A small back-pack for the days
A duffle bag (or 2) for the trips
Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: The best advice i could give is to take loose layers and to avoid synthetics, coton and linen (even wool) are better evaporators -pants (no shorts), long loose sleeves can actually be cooler than short sleeves since skin exposed to the sun is hot (and soon to be burnt)
A cheiche, this local long loose cotton scarf is a must, you can wet it and put it around your neck where it acts as a personnal cooler (and so many other purposes)
A headcovering if in the sun- it makes a huge difference and you can wet it to cool down,
A sweater, the nights can be cold
A windproof jacket
Shoes : leather, no open toes (think sand, little stones, dry plants, some critters...), no heels : , the best are close-toed leather sandals, sneakers are possible but bring enough socks (cotton or wool - you will sweat inside)
Toiletries and Medical Supplies: Tunisian doctors and pharmacies are fine but the next one can be far, so take
Immodium
Tweezers
Aspivenin or equivalent (some critters are nasty, there are scorpions)
Antibiotic cream
Paracetamol or aspirine
Cleansing solution
Band aids
Biafine or other burnt's cream
Photo Equipment: Film 100 and 200 ASA
Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: Water bottles
Isotherm bottle (for tea for instance, the mint tea with suggar is perfect) : Don't drink too cold : it's nice when you drink but your body has to readjust later
Energy bars
Something bland (cookies, shortbread) to eat when filling dizzy
Miscellaneous: Try to find a little refillable spray bottle, you can fill it with water and a light spray is efficient to cool the skin (you can by mineral water sprays but you can't refill them)
Baby wipes, you may not always find enough water to wash your hands
Toilet paper or paper handkershiefs
Sun screen for the face and the hands, better cover the rest of the body with clothes
sun glasses
