Chebika Oasis

 Quartzy Says:  The Chebika Oasis was nice because you had to walk a little to get there, unlike in Tamerza. However, there were kids pushing jewelry on us and a guide we didn't really need. The scenery is amazing though, and there is more to see than just the water. 

Chebika springs

 euzkadi Says:  I was in Chebika in August, the weather was very hot, so these springs were a perfect place to relax and enjoy a swim. 

Palmery.

 euzkadi Says:  This Palmery located in the mountains are really one of the most picturesque views we saw in Tunisia. The path are cleary marked so is very easy to reach the top, them some staircases bring you down the Gorge. 

Wildlife.

 euzkadi Says:  A wasn´t expecting any kind of wildlife in such a hot place (except goats and donkeys), but at the spring there were fishes and frogs

 euzkadi Says:  At the end of the path you will find the gorge with a small cascade that brings the water into the springs.

 euzkadi Says:  Chebika is located 59 kms north of Tozeur, to reach the town you must pass through this huge and arid lake, but the views of the distant mountains are great.

 kbl Says:  Some of the older houses, even if they have not been abandonded for about 25 years, have become ruins.

 kbl Says:  It was a surprise to see that, even so far in the desert as Shabikah, a lot of water can be found in this oasis. In Shabikah, the spring can be visited as well. A must see...

 kbl Says:  In Shabikah, when climbing a littlle bit, you will notice that you can very well see where the water is present now: the palmtrees are growing on the track of the water. 

Eroded houses

 kbl Says:  In the old village of Shabikah, you can see that the houses have been eroded by the water, making the people leave. As there was no concrete or steel when these houses have been builded, they can easily be flooded.

 kbl Says:  When you come inn the old village, you will see the new village laying a little lower. The new village has been constructed in the 70's, becouse the water that comes out of the mountain had eroded the houses and other utilities in the old village. The water that attracted...

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Talk some shoes that allow you to climb trough the village and pass the mountain. Have a laugh when german ladies on high heels (oh yes, we've seen it) makes this same trip...

Warm water spring

 cadzand Says:  The water of this spring in the Chebika oasis reaches a 27° temperature and waters the whole oasis via some small canal.It is very pleasant having a walk in the oasis, along the cascade and climbing up the Atlas mountains with a beautiful view on the surrounding desert.

 cadzand Says:  The village of Chebika has been completely devastated by the 1969's floods, which destroyed also numerous other villages in this region. It hasn't been reconstructed and only the walls are still standing up.
