Packing List

Our hotel that came with the package was one of the swankiest we have every stayed in. we felt like rich tourists instead of cheap backpackers. we think backpacks are best, but suitcases with rollers are fine since the package air/hotel deals always give you a ride to your hotel. it was warm and perfect in March, and all you need is a light windbreaker and an umbrella for rain and for slightly chilly nights. bring two cameras just in case one dies like mine did...

Remember to take some light trousers and a jumper or a cardigan with you even in the height of summer. It's best to wear cotton trousers, and have a cardigan with you, around the towns because the Tunisians can be offended by seeing your knees and elbows especially if you are thinking of visiting the mosques and other religious places. Don't wear really skimpy stuff either it'll probably bring you some grief. The locals might take offense and start to criticise you and you could end up at the brunt of a really big argument. But on the whole if you dress wisely around town you should have no problem. Take plenty of film with you more so if you are planning on going on any trips. And don't forget to take spare batteries with you either. They are available but if you are 50 miles from the nearest town and you need one....well ....don't say I didn't warn you. You could miss the best photo...

I took a big bag and little hand luggage bag. In March the weather is meant to be changeable and mild. It was actually roasting. Do take shorts, swimming things, t shirts etc. Do also take long trousers (many restaurants/hotels/attractions won't let you in in shorts). Take a hat too - particularly if you're heading for the desert (unless you want to end looking like a bad Laurence-of-Arabia immitation with a shirt wrapped round your head).Ladies should take stuff for warm weather but also respectfully long skirts, tops with sleeves and head coverings. Sun cream and after sun are a must. I have quite olive skin and I was using factor 15 and I still burnt (and it's hotter further South and further on into the year). Also if you're heading out in the evening, you really ought to invest in spray on insect repellent (particularly in the presence of camels).Plasters, paracetamol, the...

You can take all kind of Luggage which can be carried in a plane. Beeing situated rather near to the Sahara, the weather never changes too much. When we were there in April ,which I presume is the best time for people not liking an extreme hot, during day we had between 15 and 24 degrees and at night between 12 and 18 degrees. In summer its very hot: up to 45 degrees depending on the place you stay. When staying outdoor, espacially during some offroad tous in the desert, preview some warm clothes because at night the temperature may fall under 10 degrees! You must have a VISA to enter Tunisia. You can only change money at the airport or at the hotel. When leaving you must have spent all your dirams, no export is possible! So do not change too much at the first moment!

A duffle (with shoulder straps) or back pack should be fine. We travelled in July and had six days of dry hot weather, ie 37degrees C. On the last day a thunder and lightning storm lasted over 2 hrs so...Take a v light and packable showrproof jacketA sun hatlong sleeved shirtbeach shorts are fine for the beach and beach resorts but either long trousers or 'long' shorts are better elswhere.TEVA style sandals are fine A stomach upset remedy and associated rehydration powders. Food hygiene appeared to be very good (I should have avoided the rare steak!)Wet Wipes (at least thats what they're called in the UK) Brilliant for an instant freshen up 35mm and APS Films readily available in fixed price tourist stores. Expect to pay £2.50 for 24 exp 35mm If you go to the beach get/hire a parasol/shade Photo shows Bay & Beach - Hammamet

Hats

I would suggest you bring some sort of hat with you to Tunisia because the weather can get really hot. It will protect the heat from the top of your head and stop things like sun stroke.
