beachscene after a boat arrived

Around 7 usually an excellent fishdish will be served. Kerosinelamps are lit and distributed. Socializing time.

If there comes a boat it will come around 9PM, in the dark and that's the big event of the day. There will be a big fire on the beach, a chair will be put in the water for people that want to step out or into the boat (although that rarely happens). All this thrilling action lasts about 5-10 minutes depending on the complexity of the shopping list that has to be checked.

Usualy, soon after the boat leaves, it will be the time to take another beer and retire to some more private area.

Everybody knows around 4PM a snack, coffee and tea will be served, although it's rare to find other people around the big table on the beach at that time.

However the afternoon is usually the most active time of the day. Someone might even propose a game of backgammon and also antwatching is a favourite pastime.

Most islanders will take a bath in the Lake before it's getting dark.

Around 1 pm the bell rings and you know another gorgeous fishdish will be served.

Time for socializing and analyse the events of the morning. Usually not much has to be said besides about the weatherconditions and the chance a fishing canoe will call at the Island.

After dessert -during the heat of the day- it will be the time for a short nap or another hammock.

that's life

After dessert it's normal to retire to the hammock or the sand.

There's a big choice of hammocks on different locations on the tranquil Island. Sometimes people opt for a lazy chair, just for a change.

An equally popular -guest- activity is to retire to the beach, with a choice of two nice stretches of sand.

On the way to the hammock or the beach you would usually grab your first beer and possibly choose a book from the bookswap.

Less common but possible is taking an old surfboard and paddle on the water. A little odd seems to use the canoe and explore the island a bit.

time for breakfast;

if you didn't wake up yet, someone might ring a bell on the beach that you might notice.

Never try to demand breakfast before 9AM.

During breakfast it's possible to socialize with the other islanders, review the behaviour of the fishermen during the night and discuss the way the fish should be served for lunch.
